The Facilities Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, renovation, and renewal of schools as well as operations and maintenance of all district facilities. The department assists all locations in meeting conservation goals through building control systems, energy surveys and audits, energy awareness, and implementing energy conservation projects. The department further assists schools with day-to-day custodial operations, hazardous materials management, indoor air quality and rental of school properties.

The Executive Director of Academic Innovation and Technology supports personalized learning through instructional technology and media services. The department oversees Roper Mountain Science Center and supports programs designed to help build better graduates such as school counselors, Title III for multilingual learners, the Satellite Diploma Program, virtual high school, distance learning, extended day programs, and New Tech schools.

Special Education Services of Greenville County Schools provides a free, appropriate public education for all children with disabilities ages 3-21 in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Special education students are served by a faculty and staff of over 800 teachers, therapists, and other specialists who are trained to provide state-of-the-art instruction and assistance designed to meet individual student needs.

Adam James - Director of Transportation and Fleet Services

The Transportation Department oversees a comprehensive student transportation program, managing approximately 400 state-owned school buses, 15 district-owned Magnet Buses, and roughly 100 district-owned activity buses. Our mission is to ensure safe transportation for students to and from school, serving approximately 31,000 students across the district. Additionally, we facilitate transportation for extracurricular activities. Acting as a liaison, our office addresses parental and school concerns about transportation. With dedicated personnel, we are recognized as a leading authority in South Carolina's school bus transportation. Moreover, the Transportation Department manages the Fleet Services section, maintaining approximately 250 district vehicles, heavy equipment, and numerous pieces of light equipment.

She works closely with parents, listening to their concerns and directing them to the most appropriate staff member or department to resolve issues involving their child’s education. When parents have exhausted all options, including talking to their child’s teacher and principal, the District Ombudsman is available to discuss other avenues necessary to rectify their concerns about their child’s education.
