Karen Kapp brings a distinguished school and district leadership record focused on systems-level improvement, leadership development, and equitable student outcomes. As Director of Staff and Leadership Development for Greenville County Schools, she leads the design and implementation of a comprehensive school leader pipeline from the classroom to executive roles. Her work includes spearheading a Wallace Foundation-supported district self-study to align principal preparation, selection, and support systems, positioning GCS as a national model in sustaining effective school leadership through intentional pipeline programming and support.

With deep expertise in professional learning systems, school turnaround, and federal and state program accountability, Ms. Kapp has driven measurable gains in student achievement, school climate, and community trust. Her leadership has informed presentations for the CCSSO, Delaware Superintendents' Leadership Council, and AASA with the University of Washington's Principal Supervisor Academy. Before her current role, she was a turnaround principal and director of state and federal programs, implementing cross-functional development and support to enrich the student experience and improve outcomes across all school demographics.

Ms. Kapp’s portfolio spans instructional leadership coaching, cross-departmental talent development, and innovative use of co-curricular learning. She co-authored and established nationally recognized arts-integration programming, mentors and coaches aspiring leaders, and sustains a district-wide focus on leadership as the lever for student success.
