Alternative Programs

The mission of the Alternative Programs of the School District of Greenville County is to provide short-term intervention programs that offer a structured learning environment designed to address the academic and social needs of at-risk students.

Attendance

Regular school attendance is an essential part of a student's learning process and a necessary means to graduating with a good education.

Dropout Prevention

The mission of the Greenville County Schools’ Dropout Prevention Specialist (DPS) is to work collaboratively with administrators, school counselors, social workers, and families to develop better pathways to educational attainment for recent dropouts and students at-risk of dropping out.

Health Services

Recognizing that healthy students learn better, the School District has a licensed nurse in each school. The purpose of school nursing is to enhance the educational process by the modification or removal of health related barriers to learning and by promotion of an optimal level of wellness.

Homeless Liaison

Homelessness is a lack of permanent housing resulting from extreme poverty, or, in the case of unaccompanied youth, the lack of a safe and stable living environment.

Intervention Specialists

Intervention Specialists provide district-wide prevention and intervention services when administrators have used school-based resources without adequate success for the student.

Pregnant & Parenting Model

Pregnant and Parenting students will remain in their home-based or choice schools to better meet their academic and support needs.

School Safety and Emergency Preparedness

This office's primary task is the coordination of emergency preparedness and response for the entire district.

Social Work Services

Providing intervention services to assist students in reaching their maximum potential in school by identifying, assessing & resolving barriers that interfere with student academic achievement, attendance & school adjustment.
