Student Services - Intervention Specialists

Todd Mattos, Sammy Dixon, Kevin Washington, and Jimmy Vereen are the District’s Intervention Specialists.  Intervention Specialists provide district-wide prevention and intervention services when administrators have used school-based resources without adequate success for the student. These services include providing administrative support, behavior management, crisis prevention and intervention, mentoring, and school- based programs with the goal of improving social-emotional, behavioral, and academic achievement. Other responsibilities include:

• Making regular contact with students to monitor behavior
• De-escalating conflict situations  
• Notifying school staff of Intervention Specialist involvement 
• Mediating parent-school and community-based conflict
• Assisting with Holds, Lockouts, and Lockdowns
