Scott Carlin, Executive Director of Facilities
Mr. Scott Carlin began his career as an Air Force Civil Engineer Officer in 1989. For the past 30 years he has served in numerous roles in public service and public and private education. In 1997 he left active duty service and became the Assistant Director of Facilities with Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. In 1999 he joined School District 5 of Lexington/Richland Counties as the Coordinator of Facilities Operations, where he oversaw the construction, maintenance and renewal of all district schools and facilities including the overall growth of the district from 2.5 to 3.5 million square feet of educational real property. He has continued his military service as a Reservist, fulfilling roles as a Civil Engineer Squadron Commander, Deputy Mission Support Group Commander, Major Command Headquarters Staff Officer and Deputy Commander of a Staff Augmentation Civil Engineer Flight supporting the USAFE/AFAFRICA theaters of operation. He is joined by his bride of 29 years, Rebecca Carlin, who has served as a PE teacher in the Columbia area for over 15 years. Scott is a member of the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE), currently serving in the role as secretary and recently named President for the 2020-21 term. Mr. Carlin received his Bachelor's Degree from The Citadel. He is a graduate of Air University, AL, having completed Squadron Officer’s School, Air Command and Staff College and Air War College.
