Ron Jones, Director of Food & Nutrition Services

Mr. Jones served as Culinary Specialist for Greenville County Schools from 2010 to 2016. Mr. Jones designed, developed, and implemented healthier, more nutritious menu options, assisted the Director of FANS in the oversight of department programs and initiatives, and wrote grants to fund, develop, and professionally train kitchen staff. In 2017, Mr. Jones moved to the South Carolina Department of Education as Director of the Office of Health and Nutrition, where he created key performance indicators to assist local programs with data for strategic and operational improvement, rebuilt the direct certification process, and introduced a menu development program complete with training and performance tracking indicators. Since 2021, he has served as Director of Food and Nutrition Services at Spartanburg County School District 6, where he has dramatically improved the program’s financial status, streamlined operations using technology and training, and expanded the programming associated with the district-owned organic farm. Mr. Jones holds an A.S. in Culinary Arts and a B.S. in Food Service Management from Johnson and Wales University. He is a Certified Culinary Educator by the American Culinary Federation and a ServSafe Instructor with the National Restaurant Association.
