Greenville Alternative Teacher Education (GATE) Program

Schedule

SUMMER: Pre-service professional development and cohort seminars begin full-time in mid-July. Failure to attend all of the seminars may result in the candidate’s removal from the GATE Program.*

Year 1

INDUCTION YEAR 1: During the first year, GATE teachers are full-time teachers. GATE teachers will attend cohort seminars and learning labs throughout the year.  Support will be provided through the Individualized Teacher Support Team.

Year 2

INDUCTION 2 CONTRACT YEAR: GATE teachers will receive an additional year of coaching to include formative evaluations and conferences as well as participate in the Induction Institute, quarterly Induction Professional Learning Communities and all other Induction activities. GATE teachers will also take a second college course and participate in cohort seminars and activities.

Year 3

ANNUAL CONTRACT YEAR: GATE teachers will be formally evaluated using the GCS PAS-T model for Teacher Evaluation. 

Upon completion of all requirements and 3 successful years of teaching, the GATE teacher will be recommended for a full Professional License.


*GATE teachers are encouraged to plan, both logistically and financially, for this commitment.
