Greenville Alternative Teacher Education Program is Expanding
The Greenville Alternative Teacher Education (GATE) program is a three-year, district-based, job-embedded, alternative certification pathway. It is a first-of-its-kind program in South Carolina, and it will now include elementary and early childhood education for the 2023-24 school year.
GATE provides authentic teaching experiences with supportive mentoring and coaching. Greenville County Schools is currently seeking candidates who are interested in teaching math, science, social studies, business, special education, English, French or Spanish along with the new elementary and early childhood certification areas.
To be considered for the GATE program, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree or higher with a major or emphasis in the teaching area of interest. Applications are being accepted now.
