Air Quality Impact on Athletics and Outdoor Activities

The only High School football play-off game hosted by Greenville County Schools tonight is at Greer High School. At this point the game will be played as scheduled at 7:30pm, but district and athletic administrators will continue to monitor conditions. All other GCS teams are playing in regions of South Carolina where air quality conditions are moderate or better.

As is always the case, certified athletic trainers will be on the sidelines in Greer tonight. Those trainers will render the final decision as to whether a player is able to compete.

Decisions about recess and other outdoor activities are being made at the school-level.  Some schools have chosen to cancel recess and field trips. Schools that experience a smoky smell indoors are asked to turn off their fresh air intake. Children and staff members who have asthma or breathing difficulties will remain indoors. Parent requests will be honored.
