Rising 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grade students must have the Tdap vaccination or their parent/guardian must submit an objector’s statement to their child’s school prior to the first day of school, Tuesday, August 16. Students not meeting the Tdap vaccination requirement will not be allowed to attend school on the first day.

Students new to Greenville County from other South Carolina counties or other states are granted a 30-day exemption from the date of the student’s enrollment.

The Tdap vaccine protects against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough). State Law began the requirement for the Tdap vaccination in the 2013-14 school year. The Tdap vaccination is given by health providers, many pharmacies, and the Greenville County Health Department. For additional information, please contact the Health Department at 282-4100.
