Seven District Band Programs Earn Outstanding Performance Awards
Seven GCS band programs earned the Outstanding Performance Award from the South Carolina Band Directors’ Association. They are Blue Ridge High, JL Mann High Academy, Mauldin High, Mauldin Middle, Riverside Middle, Riverside High, and Travelers Rest High.
The Outstanding Performance Award recognizes top programs across the state and is the highest award given to band programs. Criteria for selection includes achieving superior ratings in marching and/or concert band, having student selected to participate in Region and All-State Band, and earning superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble Festival. The award recognizes well-rounded programs that are successful in all aspects of developing musicians. Schools selected for this award are among an elite list of highly successful programs.
