Fifteen students from six high schools participated in a structured field study (work based learning) opportunity at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena with the Swamp Rabbits Hockey Club. The students toured the arena and learned about a variety of careers in the sports and entertainment industry. James Kalinowski, Community Relations Coordinator for the Swamp Rabbits, explained his duties, responsibilities and educational pathway. Chris Lewis, General Manager of the Swamp Rabbits, shared his career story and told the students what he looks for when interviewing perspective employees. Phil Dye, Michael Baker and Megan Dotson shared their experiences as Guest Services Manager, Food and Beverage Manager for Centerplate and Vice President for Marketing and Revenue Support. The students learned that there are opportunities for part time work, shadowing and internships with the Swamp Rabbits. A careful walk out to “center ice” was a treat!
