Jackie Cauley, Secretary - Accountability and Quality Assurance/Testing and AnalysisThe GCS District Support Employee of the Year is Jackie Cauley, secretary for Accountability and Quality Assurance. She is responsible for keeping the department efficient and organized through a customized, electronic filing system. Her idea was so effective that she shared it with other office professionals during last year’s Summer Academy and to the State and National Association of Educational Office Professionals.

“The most rewarding part of my job is being part of an awesome team,” said Jackie. “Together we work to ensure that all of our students receive the best possible education.” Jackie’s duties include procurement, payroll and accounting, as well as fielding calls, electronic filing, and scheduling appointments. She especially enjoys researching and providing information to assist her team. Jackie says nothing is more heartwarming and rewarding than a student’s excitement and look of pride on their face when they succeed. Jackie has worked for GCS for 12 years.

Michael Simmons, Webmaster - Education Technology ServicesSince 2007, the district website has been maintained by webmaster Michael Simmons, GCS Professional Employee of the Year. Michael’s responsibilities include assisting school webmasters and teachers with their sites and providing training, troubleshooting and redesigning services. His patience is unending and his competence is superior.

Michael served for about 20 years as a high school science teacher before becoming webmaster. “I knew I would miss working with students, but I find my job as webmaster rewarding because I have opportunities to train and work with adults,” he said. “It is my job to make sure visitors to our website are able to easily find what they are looking for,” he added.
