Weather Update - Wednesday, October 2, 2024

Greenville County Schools is canceling all activities, including athletics, through Sunday, October 6. This decision is based on continued issues with unsafe transportation routes, a lack of stable power across the community, and a need to minimize traffic for first responders and utility crews.

On Friday, GCS team members will be driving more than 10,000 miles to assess the conditions of 370 bus and primary driving routes to schools and determine if safe transportation is possible. Additionally, GCS is assessing the ability of 6,000 teachers to access power and Internet necessary for eLearning and the ability of all employees to safely report to work. Once those assessments are compiled and analyzed, the District will make a decision regarding when it is possible to resume school, whether through eLearning or in-person school. We will announce that decision as soon as possible in order to give employees and families enough time to make arrangements.
