Greenville County Schools will open the Administrative Assistant/Assistant Principal (AA/AP) Pool application period on Friday, December 13, 2018. Any person who possesses the required certification in Elementary or Secondary Principal Tier I or II and wishes to become an Administrative Assistant or Assistant Principal in Greenville County Schools is encouraged to apply.   Current AAs or APs in GCS who want a transfer or promotion to AP are required to apply to the pool per instructions sent directly to you.

Face-to-face information sessions to support understanding about the AA/AP application, interview, and pool process will be held on Monday, December 10 and Tuesday, December 11 from 4:30 – 5:30 PM in the Board Room at the GCS Central Office, 301 E. Camperdown Way, Greenville. Candidates are not required to attend an information session to apply for the pool. Click on the appropriate link below to register for an information session.

Contents of the AA/AP Pool Information Session

The application window will close on Friday, January 18, 2019. It will be the candidate’s responsibility to submit all documentation by this date with no exceptions. If you do not meet the requirements or do not submit the required documentation, you will not be considered for the pool.

After January 18 an administrative team will screen all applicants. Interviews will be arranged beginning in early February. You will be notified at that time if you have or have not been selected for an interview. Once your interview is completed, you will receive a letter/email indicating whether you have or have not been approved for the AA/AP Pool. If you are approved for the pool, you will receive instructions about the selection process for specific positions at schools.

Application Steps

  1. Submit the following at Requisition #5813 in the online applicant system
    • Letter of interest
    • Current resume, and 
    • Copy of certificate in Elementary or Secondary Principal Tier I or II
    • Your principal’s name and email address. Your current principal serves as your primary reference. If you have worked for this principal less than 1 school year, you may add your previous principal as a second reference.
  2. Submit per instructions to this Google Form - AA-AP Pool Video
    MAXIMUM 1 minute video of yourself in response to the following prompt: Tell us about yourself and why you believe you are ready to be an assistant principal.

NOTE:  When you apply, the district will send a confidential on-line recommendation form to your principal.
