Greenville County Schools has restructured and renamed its Communications Department. The new name is the Strategic Communications and Engagement Department.
GCS Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster announced the appointment of Teri Brinkman to the Executive Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement position. Mrs. Brinkman will be responsible for supervising the Communications team in the areas of media and community relations, organizational communications, publications, graphic design, video production, PTA support, Service Center, and staff recognition activities.
As part of this restructuring, Beth Brotherton has been appointed to Director of Communications, where she provides the department with leadership in media relations and crisis management support, social media engagement, and expanded video production services.
“In the 15 months since Beth joined Greenville County Schools, she has done a great job as the district’s primary spokesperson and has used her unique perspective and story-telling ability to add a new dimension to our communications efforts,” said Brinkman. “We look forward to her leadership in this new role.”
Additionally, Whitney Hanna, Coordinator of Community Collaboration and Institutional Advancement, will join the newly restructured department. Hanna’s responsibilities include working with District leadership and schools to develop relationships and collaborate with community partners to support the Strategic Education Plan and augment students’ educational experiences.
“In just eight short months, Whitney has already established herself as a crucial cog in Greenville County Schools’ community outreach and partnership development efforts.” Brinkman added, “She fits naturally into the newly restructured department’s responsibilities and we are thrilled to have her energy, creativity, and knowledge on our team.”
