Greenville County Schools announced Greenville Technical College (GTC) as its 2024 Partner of the Year at the annual Salute to Education celebration banquet.

“We are most fortunate that they work closely with us to ensure we can provide, without cost to our students, dual credit college opportunities through the college transfer program,” said GCS Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster. “There could be no better choice than for us to recognize the tremendous contributions the partnership with Greenville Technical College provides for our students and for our workforce.”

The college works closely with the district to provide students with dual credit opportunities through the college transfer program and within technical fields all at no cost to GCS students. GTC has more dually enrolled students than any other college in the state of South Carolina, with the majority of those being GCS students.

GTC plays a pivotal role in youth apprenticeship programs for GCS students such as Prisma Health’s nursing support assistant apprenticeship and technical scholar programs at Michelin and BMW.

The college worked directly with GCS and Clemson University to create Expressway to Tiger Town, an accelerated pathway-to-teaching program, which allows GCS students to return to the district as teachers with degrees from both GTC and Clemson University. Additionally, GTC supports teacher professional development and partnerships designed to help students overcome barriers to education and employment such as OnTrack Greenville and Launch GVL.
