National School Counseling Week
National School Counseling Week 2022, “School Counseling: Better Together,” sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), is celebrated February 7–11 to focus attention on the unique contributions of school counselors and the tremendous impact school counselors have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
School counselors are actively engaged in helping students examine their abilities, strengths, interests and talents. They work in a partnership with parents as they encounter the challenges of raising children in today’s world and focus on positive ways to enhance students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development, or the ability to develop healthy identities, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. School counselors work with teachers and other educators to provide an educational system where students can realize their potential and set healthy, realistic, and optimistic aspirations for themselves.
