Blue Ridge High Choirs to Perform in NYC
The Blue Ridge High School Concert Choir and Chamber Choir have been invited to participate in a performance of The Music of Eric Whitacre at Lincoln Center in New York City on April 16, 2018. The event is sponsored by the Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY) Concert Series. The Blue Ridge Choirs are led by Ms. Laura Morris.
Blue Ridge High’s ensembles will join other outstanding choristers to form the Distinguished Concert Singers International, a choir of distinction. The residency includes two half-days of rehearsals and clinics, culminating in a performance at one of the world’s greatest concert halls with Maestro Whitacre on the podium.
“The Blue Ridge High School Choirs received the invitation because of the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers as well as the exceptional quality of their audition recording,” said Dr. Jonathan Griffith, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for DCINY.
Grammy-winning composer and conductor Eric Whitacre is one of the most popular musicians of our time. His concert music has been performed throughout the world by millions of amateur and professional musicians, while his ground-breaking Virtual Choirs have united singers from over 110 different countries.
