GCS Player of the Week - December 8, 2016
This weeks GCS “Players of the Week” features our 2016 North-South Volleyball All-Stars:
Christina Ellwanger, Hillcrest Volleyball – Christina started her career with Hillcrest in the 8th grade as a reserve player. After waiting for her opportunity to become a starter, Christina became one of the best players in the state. As the only senior on the Rams team this year, she helped lead Hillcrest to a region title. She was named to the Class AAAAA All-State team this season and was selected for the 2016 North-South Volleyball All-Star team.
Allie Wright, Eastside Volleyball – Allie finished her career at Eastside as a three-time all-state selection and a three-time region player of the year. She compiled a 48-2 record in her four seasons and was named the 2016 South Carolina Coaches Association for Women’s Sports Class AAAA Player of the Year. Allie was also selected for the 2016 North-South Volleyball All-Star team.

Jalen Duffin, Berea Boys Basketball – 15 ppg in three games last week, including 24 vs Woodmont where he shot 7/14 from 3-point line.
Sakorea Black, Berea Girls Basketball – Averaged 15 points, 1.7 steals and 2.2 rebounds in three games last week.
Shawn Stokes, Blue Ridge Boys Basketball – Averaged 21 points and 4 assists with 21 of 22 FT’s made.
Christian Barksdale, Carolina Wrestling – 1st place in weight class at Woodmont Tournament
Tori Henderson, Greer Girls Basketball – Helped lead Greer to two big wins over Southside and Dorman. Posted a triple double vs Southside with 10 pts, 10 rebs, 11 steals. Went 8-8-6 vs Dorman
Griffin Stephenson, Hillcrest Wrestling – 5-0 last week leading Rams to 2nd place tournament finish
Quin Byrd, Hillcrest Girls Basketball – Scored 28 vs Spartanburg
Malik Chappell, JL Mann Boys Basketball – 16 pts 6 rebs vs Greenville
Luke Wetzel, Wade Hampton Wrestling – Placed 1st at 145 lbs at Cardinal Newman tournament. Now 6-0 on the season
Alexis Guthrie, Wade Hampton Girls Basketball – 15 pts 8 rebs with clutch 3 to lead Generals over Woodmont
Garrett Starks & Corey Mabry, Woodmont Wrestling – Tournament champions at Wildcat Invitational
