We are so excited to start a super year with eager students. All students in K5 through fifth grade come to the science lab bi-weekly. The science discovery lab is an extension of what is being taught in the classroom. We enrich the science instruction primarily through hands-on experiments and activities taught by Mr. Kurt Blocher, our science magnet teacher.
Mr. Blocher and our classroom teachers engage students in science activities which build inquiry skills, promote positive attitudes towards science, teach science content and develop problem solving abilities.
Sharing work and talking about science helps our students understand and learn. They use the language of science and make it their own. Teamwork is fun. Reading, writing, and speaking are all a part of science as well as acting, art and music. These are great ways for a student to show what is in his or her mind.
Our goal is to enhance and to motivate our students' awareness of the scientific world. We want to stimulate the joy of discovery in each child. Our discovery labs allow our students to have hands-on experiences. These experiences increase our students' knowledge in science which allows for greater student success with science.
