LEAP Days - August 17-21, 2020
Dear Chandler Creek and Virtual School Families,
The South Carolina General Assembly has approved funding for additional days before the start of the new school year for students. These additional days are identified as LEAP (Learn, Evaluate, Analyze, and Prepare) Days. The LEAP Days for Greenville County Elementary Schools will be August 17-21, 2020. Schools are required to offer the LEAP days, but students are not required to attend.
We will use this time to assess the needs of our students to prepare for their learning in the coming year. We also want to help your child become familiar with our new learning environment, including wearing masks in 2nd through 5th grades. Session 1 students will receive breakfast and a bagged lunch to take home. Session 2 students will receive lunch. Chromebooks will also be provided to students 3rd-5th grade and for 4 year old kindergarten through 2nd grade students as they become available.
There will be two sessions on each day of our LEAP week. Session 1 (7:45-10:15) will be for GCS non-Virtual Academy Students. Session 2 (12:00-2:30) will be for GCS Virtual Academy Students. Students are asked to attend one day that week according to their assigned color track with make-ups scheduled for Friday.
All appropriate safety measures will be followed to maintain social distancing, to the extent possible, and all safety precautions will be followed to help protect our students, faculty, staff, and community. Transportation will be provided to those who completed their transportation forms by July 15 and requested bus service. Parents should visit the GCS website or call 355-3100 to learn how to enroll their children if they were not in GCS last year or for information on requesting bus transportation.
Please complete one survey for your household for students in 4 year old kindergarten through 5th grade during the school year 2020-21. The deadline for the LEAP Survey is Monday, August 10th.

La Asamblea General de Carolina del Sur ha aprobado fondos para días adicionales antes del comienzo del nuevo año escolar para los estudiantes. Estos días adicionales se identifican como días LEAP (aprender, evaluar, analizar y preparar). Los días LEAP para las escuelas primarias del condado de Greenville serán del 17 al 21 de agosto de 2020. 20-21 New Transportation Form-ALL STUDENTS
New Transportation Form for 2020-21
Greenville County Schools is asking ALL families who will have a student or students enrolled for the 2020-21 school year to complete a new Transportation Request Form. The form should be completed for EVERY student, including bus riders, car riders, walkers, bicyclists, and daycare bus riders.
It is very important to complete the form so GCS can efficiently plan for how students will arrive and depart campuses daily. It is particularly important for students who have moved or changed schools.
In order to ensure school bus transportation on the first day of school, forms are due by Friday, July 31. School bus requests submitted after July 31 will not be routed until after Labor Day.

A backpack for parents account provides parents, guardians, or contacts with a central place to sign in to do the following:
- View their student's information including demographics, attendance, classes, grades, lunch balances, and test scores
- Apply or register their student to Special Focus schools and programs (Fine Arts Center, Career Centers, etc.)
- Receive alerts and notifications regarding their students
- View their student's school and contact information
- Manage parent and contact information for their students
