August/September 2021

Dear Lake Forest Family,

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer!  We have been busy preparing for the year ahead. I am looking forward to the 2021-2022 school year. Our school-wide theme this year is “Wild About Learning at LFE”.  We look forward to welcoming back many of our students who attended the virtual program last year. It will be nice to see these students and their families.

If you are new to Lake Forest this year, I hope you will attend our  New Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 3, at 6:00 pm in the LFE cafeteria. During this orientation we will go over important back to school items, introduce our administrative team and PTA board, as well as provide a self-guided tour of the building. In addition, we hope to answer any questions you may have.

Meet the Teacher will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm on Thursday, August 12. This is a drop-in event. Parents and students will be able to visit classrooms, meet teachers, join PTA, sign-up for our Extended Day Program, complete lunch applications, and much more! We look forward to seeing you there!

I would like to thank our PTA for their continued support of our school. Over the summer, they ordered some new playground pieces that will be installed soon. We know our students will enjoy these new additions. PTA has also helped pay for digital programs we use at school such as Reflex Math and RAZ Kids. I encourage you to join PTA as we start a new school year. They do so much to support our students and staff throughout the school year.

All parents are asked to ‘Like’ Lake Forest Elementary School on Facebook for updates and photos! We enjoy using social media to share positive stories about LFE and upcoming events.

We have included a list of new   staff members in this newsletter.  Please join me in welcoming them to our school! We have also added a new class at LFE….Innovation Lab. This class will replace the computer lab. While in the Innovation Lab, students will participate in team building activities, build and construct different structures, utilize engineering practices, integrate technology, and think innovatively. I know students will enjoy this new related arts class.

All students will be issued a Chromebook during the first week of school to use throughout the school year. Please ensure your child takes good care of their device and charger. Parents assume the cost of any lost or damaged devices.

Finally, let me know if I can help you in any way as we begin a new school year together.  Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we will see you soon!
