A self-governing unit, Washington Center's PTA plans programs and activities to meet the needs of our children and youth. Membership is open to any person interested in the well being of our students.
The objectives of the PTA are to promote the welfare of our children in their school and communities and to raise the standards of home, life, care, and protection of our children. Also, bringing home and school closer to foster communication, cooperation, and unify efforts to secure the highest advantages of education are important priorities of the PTA.
Some of the activities the PTA has engaged in recently include
Playground and therapy equipment provided through fundraisers
Student and staff birthday recognition
Funding Community Based Excursion opportunities for classrooms
Informational and support opportunities for parents
Teacher and staff moral boosters provided throughout the year
Volunteering at Washington Center has a long and distinguished history. Parents, siblings, spouses, businesses, civic organizations, and other schools have all come to volunteer at Washington Center . We are especially indebted to Bob Jones University that sponsors a "Challenge Day" for our students every year. Furman University, North Greenville College, Greer High School, and Traveler's Rest High School send students here for "hands on" experience.
Many volunteer opportunities are available at Washington Center. Activities on a regular or occasional basis, at school or at home, and for several to just a few hours are possible. Call the school's office for more information on how you can help support the students and staff.
