Change of Assignment (Special Permission) Requests to Attend Tigerville
Change of Assignment (Special Permission) requests to attend Tigerville are granted based on need and class enrollment availability. Once Change of Assignment is granted, attendance, tardies, early dismissals and discipline are monitored before it is renewed for another school year. Change in Assignment will be denied to students experiencing problems in these areas.
Adult Meal Prices
Minimum adult meal prices are set annually by USDA. USDA does allow Districts to establish prices higher than the minimum if they chose. GCS always defers to the minimum price per meal required by USDA for adult meals. The minimum adult meal prices for the 2022-2023 school year are $4.81 for lunch and $3.07 for breakfast, plus any additional local tax on sales of prepared foods

Cold Weather Guidelines for Recess:
Wind Chill Factor 32°F or above: Outside participation allowed with appropriate clothing
Wind Chill Factor 31°F – 25°F: Outside participation based on teacher judgment. (If classes go outside, time should not exceed 15 minutes. The lower the wind chill factor, the less time spent outside)
Wind Chill Factor of 24° F or lower: No outside recess or participation
Safe Act
The Safe Access to Vital Epinephrine (SAVE) Act, recently approved by the South Carolina Legislature, allows school districts to store supplies of epinephrine auto-injectors for identified school staff to use in emergencies for students with allergic reactions. It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians of students known to have a need for epinephrine to provide the school with specific medical orders and a supply of their own epinephrine at the start of the school year or upon transfer to the school.
