Mrs. Dye

Our Principal

My name is Heather Dye, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Taylors Elementary School.  I am dedicated to fostering a nurturing and innovative learning environment where every student can thrive. I look forward to working with each and every one of you this school year, committed to the success of our TopCats.

I am a proud product of Greenville County Schools, having attended Plain Elementary, Bethel Elementary, Hillcrest Middle, and Mauldin High School. After graduation, I attended Clemson University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Go Tigers! My teaching career began at Homeland Park Elementary in Anderson School District Five, where I taught Second and Fifth Grades and was named Teacher of the Year. During this time, I pursued graduate studies at Furman University, earning a Master's Degree in School Leadership and Supervision. Go Paladins!  I relocated home to Greenville and joined the inaugural faculty and staff of AJ Whittenberg Elementary in 2010, teaching Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grades and being named Teacher of the Year.

Prior to the principalship, I served as Assistant Principal at Mitchell Road and Pelham Road Elementary Schools.  My administrative journey includes selection for Greenville County School’s Instructional Leadership Academy and completion of the Aspiring Principal’s Institute. Additionally, I participated in the Wallace Foundation’s Principal Professional Learning Community, collaborating with school administrators nationwide to address common challenges.

At Taylors Elementary School, a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, we champion a student-centered approach that emphasizes academic excellence, character development, and leadership skills. Our staff is committed to fostering a culture where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to lead. By integrating the principles of Leader in Me, we empower students to take ownership of their learning and become proactive, responsible members of our school community.

One of our proudest accomplishments is our school's recognition as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School, a testament to our collective efforts in promoting leadership and life skills. Additionally, we have been recognized as a US News & World Report BEST Elementary School, highlighting our commitment to excellence and our continuous improvement efforts. These achievements reflect our dedication to cultivating an environment where leadership is a part of everyday learning.

In partnership with our dedicated staff, supportive families, and vibrant community, we are committed to ensuring that Taylors Elementary School remains a place where dreams are nurtured, leaders are developed and empowered, and our students thrive.  Should I be of assistance to you and your family, please feel free to contact me.

In leadership,

Heather S. Dye
