Teacher Cadets

The primary goal of the Teacher Cadet Program is to encourage academically able students who possess exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills to consider teaching as a career. An important secondary goal of the Program is to provide these talented future community leaders with insights about teachers and schools so that they will be civic advocates of education.

The class is for a full credit, but on the block schedule is only a semester.  They receive honors credit and, because we are partnered with NGU, they receive college credit as well.

They follow a curriculum similar to Education 101 (methods, materials, learning styles, history of ed, ed psych) and do field experience with a cooperating teacher at an elementary school or at the middle school.

The class is under the aegis of CERRA - the Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention and Advancement.
