Parents who missed the first and second windows to register for the 2021-22 Virtual Program will be able to continue to register using the same directions. You will NOT be automatically accepted; however parents will receive an email notifying them that they are on the waiting list for the Virtual Program. Acceptance for those received prior to July 15th will be finalized by that date. Parents who registered for the Virtual Program, but changed their minds and wish to attend Brick and Mortar, will need to notify the school by July 15th. We have some wonderful hard working and talented young artists in Greenville County. Please click the image to see the Virtual Art Show put on by these students.
We are excited to announce our Summer Launch Program which is an opportunity for any and all of our students – both students who were virtual this year and in-person – to get a head start on next school year. We know that many, if not all, of our students have gaps in their learning from the last 12 months of school, or lack thereof. It’s hard not to have gaps whenever we were all struggling with a pandemic, trying to stay safe, and frankly just weren’t at school to learn. We do not want those gaps to continue or to get worse so in an effort to try to regain some of the class time students lost this year we are offering Summer Launch as a way to have some small group instruction with our teachers to help ensure that they don’t go into next year feeling behind academically.
To be clear this is NOT summer school. In other words, this is not a program for students who failed classes to make up those credits or else they will be retained – nope! Although students who were unsuccessful in classes are certainly invited to attend – as all of our students are – this program is intended to help students get prepared for next school, not to remediate students from this year. That is why we are calling it Summer Launch because we are wanting to launch students forward, not focus on the past. For example, many of our current 7th grade students will be taking English 1 and/or Algebra 1 next year. Those are high school credit classes and students’ grades in those classes will count towards their high school GPAs. We do not want students coming into those classes with deficiencies so we will have English 1 and Algebra 1 “boot camps” as part of Summer Launch. We will do the same thing with our Math 7/8 and English GT classes and with all of our classes. Every student will be given a free breakfast and lunch and transportation will be provided for those who sign up before the May 17th.
Summer Launch is free but space will be limited and students will be admitted on a first come first serve basis. The first 100 students to sign up will be guaranteed a spot (use this link to sign up: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScu2MqqICIwgNy2Eun-eAMUElcd7fx6XbfZzPksJVI1tkmc8g/viewform?usp=sf_link). Preference will be given to students who are able to attend each week but students who are able to attend only some weeks will be allowed to attend if space is available. Summer Launch will run four weeks in the summer: the weeks of June 21st, June 28th, July 12th, and July 19th. If you have any questions then please contact Ms. Grant (firstname.lastname@example.org).
