Greenville County Schools Attendance Rules
TARDY POLICY
- Tardy - Doors open at 7:30am. Students must be in their seats when educational instruction begins at 8:25am or student will be marked tardy.
- **Excused Tardies** Students who arrive late to school with a valid doctor's note, on a late bus, or with a court appearance document will be issued an excused late pass. This aligns with our commitment to recognize genuine and unavoidable reasons for late arrival.
- **Tardy Allowance and Consequences** To be clear, tardies include lateness to school and lateness to class. Each student is permitted four (4) unexcused tardies per semester without consequence. At the 5th unexcused tardy, a parent phone call will be made. At the 6th unexcused tardy, Lunch Detention will be assigned and a parent phone call will be made. On the 7th and all subsequent tardies within a semester, a referral will be processed with a consequence and a parent phone call will be made. This policy is designed to emphasize the importance of punctuality.
