About Riverside Middle School
Located in the foothills of the Piedmont near Greer, South Carolina, Riverside Middle School opened its classrooms to students in the fall of 1999. The school contains 137,000 square feet of space and accommodates 1,000 students. There are fifty classrooms, fourteen labs, and rooms for fine arts and vocational education. The gymnasium seats 350 and the cafetorium seats 364 for dining and 444 for assemblies. Physical education includes two softball fields, a football/soccer field, a track, four paved basketball courts, and four tennis courts.
The administration area houses the principal, assistant principals, secretary, attendance, workroom, and a volunteer/PTA room. Guidance and the health room occupy other spaces in this area.
The school is very functional and flexible. Every effort has been made to design the school to be attractive and inspiring. This was accomplished with skillful use of windows, open areas, color and arrangement of drives, sidewalks, walkways, and athletic fields. The site provides a beautiful campus with a landscaped courtyard and entrances.
