As we prepare for the upcoming year, we want to remind you of some important guidelines for student arrival and dismissal.
Arrival:
Our school building opens each day at 7:00 for student entry. All students may be dropped off in the front car line from 7:00-7:45 each morning, and students in grades 3rd, 4th, and 5th may be dropped off in the bus loop on the side of the building after 7:15 once all buses have unloaded.
Students who would like to eat breakfast at school may report to the school cafeteria before heading to their classroom. New this school year, breakfast will close at 7:40 so that students can be in their classroom on time. Students arriving after 7:40 will be sent to their classroom.
Students are expected to be in their classroom and ready to learn at 7:45 when our instructional day begins. Students arriving to their classroom after 7:45 are considered tardy and missing valuable instruction. Please help by ensuring your child is dropped off in time to get to their classroom each day by 7:45.
Parents may walk their child into school the first week of school, Thurs., Aug. 8 through Wed. Aug. 14. Beginning Thurs. Aug. 15, all students should be dropped off in the front car line. Mauldin staff are available to help students getting into the school throughout the year. If your child needs assistance, please speak with one of the staff members in the car line.
Early Dismissals:
For students to be considered present for the day, students must attend school for at least 3 hours. Parents or Guardians needing to get their student early should bring a picture ID to the front office to sign their student out. Please note that students cannot be called until the parent arrives. Early dismissals will stop at 1:45 as students and classes prepare for dismissal. After 1:45, parents must join the car line to pick up their child.
Dismissal:
School dismisses each day at 2:15. All car riders can be picked up in the front car line. Anyone picking up in the car line must have a student dismissal tag clearly displayed hanging from the rearview mirror.
For the safety of our youngest students, any child in K3, K4, K5, and 1st grade who ride the school bus are required to have a parent or guardian at the bus stop. All 4K, 5K, and 1st grade students will receive a numbered ID tag from the school prior to boarding the bus in the afternoon. A parent/guardian/designee must be at the bus stop with a matching family tag. If a parent/guardian/designee, with the numbered card, is not present at the bus stop, the student will be returned to the school for the parent to pick up. Incidents of the parent/guardian/designee, with the numbered card, not being at the bus stop for PM drop-off, will result in suspension of transportation services according to the following schedule:
Please join us for Meet the Teacher to kick off our 2024-2025 school year.
Are you a new family to Mauldin? We will hold an information session for families new to Mauldin Elementary from 5:30-6:00 on both evenings. Come join us to learn more about Mauldin Elementary.
If you have moved, please update your address with the front office to ensure your child receives a postcard with their teacher assignment.
Parents and Guardians,
To maximize academic instruction and limit electronic device distractions, personal electronic devices, including cell phones and smartwatches cannot be used by students during the instructional day without authorized permission by the principal or principal’s designee for unique events. All personal devices must remain out of sight of others and be silenced during this time.
Elementary school instructional day: 7:45 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
Should a student need to contact a parent or family member during the school day, teachers or office staff can assist them. Should a parent need to provide information to a student during the school day, they should contact the front office at 355-3700.
Cell phones or personal electronic devices found in the possession of students or that interrupt the learning environment, will be confiscated and returned to the student at the end of the school day.
If students use cell phones for calling, texting, filming, or any other activity during the instructional day, will have the item collected and returned at the end of the school day.
Repeated offenses may lead to a parent conference and the collection of the cell phone, which will only be returned to the parent.
This information is also found in our 2024-25 Student Handbook found here. Please reach out to school administration with any questions by contacting the front office.
Parents and Guardians,
In accordance with the South Carolina Compulsory School Attendance law, the School District of Greenville County has uniform rules to ensure that students attend school regularly. Each day that students are not in school, they miss hours of valuable instruction and opportunities for learning that they will not have again. Students are counted present only when they are actually in school, on homebound instruction, or are present at an activity authorized by the school principal. A student is considered in attendance when present for at least three (3) hours of a school day.
Students must present a written excuse, signed by a parent/legal guardian or a medical professional, for all absences within 3 days of the student’s return to school. The written excuse should include the reason for and the date of absence. Without a valid written excuse, the absence will be recorded as unlawful. Absences in excess of 10 days will not be considered excused with a parent/guardian note unless accompanied by official medical documentation or approved by the principal.
Attendance information is available in the student handbook and on the Greenville County Schools website.
Parents can now enroll and upload documents online by creating a Parent Backpack account. Please visit the Greenville County Schools Enrollment website to learn more and start the enrollment process.
