As we begin planning for the 2026-2027 school year and developing classroom rosters, we want to share an opportunity for parents/guardians to provide important input that may help us in making the best decision concerning classroom placement for your child.
Each year, considerable time and thoughtful consideration are invested in matching every student at Mauldin Elementary with a teacher and classroom environment conducive to their social and academic growth. Our classrooms are intentionally composed to reflect the diversity of our society, considering various factors such as gender, ethnicity, ability levels, and the individual social and academic needs of our students.
Additionally, our school administration carefully weighs parental input concerning any special circumstances or needs that should be factored into the assignment of student placements. If you believe your child possesses such circumstances or needs, we welcome your input. Please adhere to the guidelines outlined below when submitting a letter:
Acceptable Letters Include:
-Academic concerns or learning difficulties including testing from a psychologist and/or doctor that may require special academic accommodations within the classroom. (Required documentation filed in student’s permanent record).
-Documented medical needs or physical impairments that may require accommodations to assist student in being able to access academics. ((Required documentation filed in student’s permanent record or with school nurse).
-Social or emotional issues that dramatically affect the learning environment.
-Request for a particular teaching style that would best match your child’s learning style.
Unacceptable Letters Include:
-Requests for specific teachers or the exclusion of specific teachers by name. Our school prides itself on employing exceptional educators, all dedicated to fostering student academic growth. Therefore, such requests will not be considered.
-Request for an “experienced” teacher or “first year teacher” as all teachers are highly qualified to meet the needs of students.
-Requesting for a student to be placed in the same class as their friend unless there is a need for special consideration.
Parent request may be submitted to the principal, Jennifer Dodds, at jdodds@greenville.k12.sc.us , or delivered to the school. Requests must be submitted by Friday May 29, 2026. Letters will not be accepted after May 29. Final decisions on student placement rest with the school administration. Families will be notified in August about classroom placement for the 2026-2027 school year.

The 2026 School Climate Survey is now open and will remain available from February 23, 2026 through April 17, 2026.
We encourage every family to participate. Parents may access the survey through their Backpack for Parents account by visiting the My Students page. Each family may complete one survey per child enrolled in a public school.
The survey results are reported on the state report card and provide valuable feedback that helps us reflect, grow, and continue strengthening our school environment for students and families.
Your voice matters, and we appreciate you taking a few minutes to share your perspective.
Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our Mighty Eagles.
We are thrilled to report that the 2025 State Report Cards results released today, and Mauldin Elementary School received an EXCELLENT rating!!! This could not have been accomplished without the hard work and dedication of our WHOLE school community.
For the first time in district history, the graduation rate has surpassed 90 percent—reaching 90.6% for the Class of 2025, an 18-point increase since 2012!
85% of the Class of 2025 graduated college- and/or career-ready, a 20-point jump in five years!
97.7% of GCS schools were rated excellent, good, or average—a nine-point increase from last year!
This record-setting attainment is a reflection of your work, your commitment, and your belief in our students.
2025-2026 State Report Results
At the Superintendent’s Academic Achievement Awards celebration, Greenville County Schools recognized significant academic growth and performance from the 2024-25 school year for all schools, special programs, and centers. At the elementary level,
Mauldin Elementary is proud to be recognized as one of the elementary schools that showed growth in both areas! This recognition is a direct reflection of the hard work, dedication, and commitment from the teachers, students, and families of Mauldin Elementary.
Parents and Guardians,
In accordance with the South Carolina Compulsory School Attendance law, the School District of Greenville County has uniform rules to ensure that students attend school regularly. Each day that students are not in school, they miss hours of valuable instruction and opportunities for learning that they will not have again. Students are counted present only when they are actually in school, on homebound instruction, or are present at an activity authorized by the school principal. A student is considered in attendance when present for at least three (3) hours of a school day.
Students must present a written excuse, signed by a parent/legal guardian or a medical professional, for all absences within 3 days of the student’s return to school. The written excuse should include the reason for and the date of absence. Without a valid written excuse, the absence will be recorded as unlawful. Absences in excess of 10 days will not be considered excused with a parent/guardian note unless accompanied by official medical documentation or approved by the principal.
Attendance information is available in the student handbook and on the Greenville County Schools website.
