Cardinal Chorus
Cardinal Chorus is a 4th and 5th grade group with about 85 members. Students audition for places in Chorus. Third graders will audition in May for the next year's 4th grade Chorus spots. Students who are in Chorus as 4th graders do not need to try out again for 5th grade. Students new to Bethel are given an opportunity to audition. Chorus rehearsals on are Thursday mornings in the Music Room [502] at 7:15 A.M. Each member is required to purchase a red Cardinal Chorus shirt which they wear with black pants and black shoes/socks to all performances. Concerts include a holiday performance in December and a spring concert in May.
Battle of the Books
Ten books are chosen each year for the Battle of the Books. Students read the books September through December. Students who have met the reading requirements may join the club, which will meet twice a week with Mrs. Tyner in the library. In the Spring, we will compete against other schools in the district in a quiz-type competition about the books. Students in 4th and 5th grade can participate in this program.
"The Nest" Morning News Show
Each morning the crew members of The Nest deliver announcements, news, and fun features to our student body. Members of The Nest are chosen by audition at the end of their fourth-grade year and serve as the crew during their fifth-grade year. The Nest is directed by Mrs. Tyner, our School Librarian.
Good News Club
The Good News Club is an after-school Bible club that meets on Tuesdays throughout the school year and is currently for 3rd-5th graders. At Good News Club children sing songs, memorize God’s Word, hear life-changing Bible lessons, and play review games to reinforce the truths of each lesson. Children who attend must have a parental permission form.
Safety Patrols
The safety patrols at Bethel are chosen each spring from among the fourth-grade classes. They are chosen based on their grades, self-discipline, and demonstration of responsibility.
Jr. Beta Club
Jr. Beta Club is a club that recognizes fifth-grade students with high academic achievement and good character. Junior Beta promotes service back to the community. We meet once a month to carry out community service projects and fundraisers that support chosen causes. Our members are responsible for completing 10 hours of community service outside of the school day.
Student Council
Representatives and alternates will attend their first meeting in October. Meetings are the third Tuesday of the month. Student Council meets from 2:30-3:30.
