Welcome Reedy Laurel Community
Dear Reedy Laurel Community,
We are thrilled to announce the opening of Reedy Laurel Elementary in August 2025! As we prepare to welcome students to our brand-new school, we are excited to share our unique focus and vision with you.
Reedy Laurel Elementary will offer a specialized program centered around environmental science, aiming to develop students' ability to apply their scientific knowledge to preserve the Earth and its resources. Through a standards-based curriculum, our students will explore the world of environmental science in meaningful and hands-on ways.
Our program includes opportunities for students to engage in real-world scientific investigations within our state-of-the-art wet lab and technology lab. These experiences will empower students to become active problem-solvers and critical thinkers, fostering a deep appreciation and understanding of our natural environment.
We are committed to providing an educational experience that not only meets academic standards but also inspires a passion for learning about and caring for our planet. We believe that every student has the potential to be a steward of the Earth, and we look forward to partnering with our community to cultivate this next generation of environmental leaders.
Thank you for your support and enthusiasm as we embark on this exciting journey. We can't wait to open our doors and begin this adventure with you and your children!
Sincerely,
Matt Critell

Board Approves New Elementary School Name
The new school opening in August 2025 at 61 Isbell Lane in Greenville will be named Reedy Laurel Elementary School. The Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees approved the name at its May 28, 2024 meeting.
An ad hoc committee chaired by Area 24 Trustee Dr. Anne Pressley made the recommendation to the full Board, noting the new name acknowledges the history of the community and the former Laurel and Laurel Creek Elementary Schools, while also recognizing the two bodies of water the school site is located between, the Reedy River and Laurel Creek. Additionally, the name complements the environmental science focus of the new school.
New School Opening
The new school is set to open in the Fall of 2025.
