The mathcounts competition club is part of a national program that provides students the opportunity to compete in live, in-person math contests against and alongside their peers.
6th and 7th graders meet 2 days a week before school. 8th graders meet as a related arts course. The club meets to work on problem solving sheets provided by the national MathCounts organization.
Four 8th graders will be chosen to represent Hughes at the February competition. A total of Six 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be able to compete for individual awards at the competition. Students that are not chosen to compete for individual awards will be able to experience the competition tests given in February.
