NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY (NJHS) Description: NJHS is a service volunteer organization that is expected to volunteer one hour each month within the walls of Northwood and one hour in the community each quarter. NJHS works closely with our Special Education students to develop meaningful relationships. It is also great to have our students volunteering in our community and learning the importance of giving back. Eligibility: Students must have all A's and B's in 6th grade and in the first semester of 7th grade, no referrals, two teacher recommendations, and possess leadership qualities. Students apply in March of their 7th grade year and begin their membership/volunteering responsibilities throughout their 8th grade year. STUDENT COUNCIL Description: Student Council is the liaison between students and faculty at Northwood. Elected representatives provide leadership for school events and are the voice of Northwood students. Eligibility: Elected members 7th and 8th grade. 6th grade members elected mid-year. ROBOTICS CLUB Description: In this club, you will work as a team to build a VEX IQ robot. The robot will then work in an alliance with another team to score as many points as possible in a competition. The yearbook staff works throughout the year to learn about photography, journalism, and team work as we design and publish our school's events in the yearbook.
