Elevate School Transformation Model Accepting Teacher Applications

Greenville County Schools is actively seeking elementary and middle grade teachers who are looking for a once-in-a-career opportunity and the potential to earn up to $14,000 more. The GCS Elevate Incentive model is a pilot program to attract and retain high-quality teachers and personnel for the District's schools with the largest opportunity for growth. Early Childhood and Elementary Teachers Encouraged to Attend next Shining Stars Event

Change in Assignment School Choice Lottery Results Posted

Greenville County Schools is a “choice” district, offering quality schools at all levels across the school system. Approximately 15% of the district’s 78,000 students attend school on choice. Recently, the lottery results were posted for assignment changes in the 2024-25 school year. Parents should note these results are static and are not updated with post-lottery requests submitted. Parents who applied during the Change in Assignment (CIA) Choice Lottery Window can access their student’s information by using their choice form number. Students’ names are not listed. Requests submitted January 4, 2024 or later are not included in the lottery results. More Information/Lottery Results

Superintendent's Report
Dr. Royster introduced Beverly Holt-Pilkey, the incoming Director of Early Intervention and Elementary Student Support, and Nurit Sexton, the incoming principal of Bethel Elementary School, who were both recently approved in their new roles.

Action Items

LETRS Training and Compensation
The Board of Trustees approved $5.5 million of General Fund-Fund Balance to provide a $2,500 stipend for all K4-3rd grade teachers to complete the LETRS training as required by the State Department of Education.

Innovative Course Approvals
The Board also approved a series of courses designed to develop student interests in multiple subject areas including courses that were previously unable to be offered at the honors level.

Budget Adjustment for New Elementary School at Old JL Mann HS Site
Trustees voted to approve the transfer of $4,900,000 of Unassigned General Fund-Fund Balance to Building Fund in order to fund the budget increase for the new elementary school at the old JL Mann site as presented.

Physical Education Exemption (Executive Session)
Board members voted to approve physical education exemption for one student at Greer High School.

Information/Action from Board Committees/Liaisons

South Carolina School Boards Association – Mrs. Middleton – Some of the Trustees went to South Carolina School Boards Association's annual conference. It was a great experience learning alongside other board members from across the state.

Consortium of State School Boards Associations – Mrs. Morrison-Fair – Trustees attended the Consortium of State School Boards Associations' national conference, which was an opportunity to see what other districts are doing around the country. There was a focus on student safety and wellness. Mr. Saylors presented on how a quality learning environment supports increased focus on student success.

Monthly Finance Report

The District's monthly financial statements were presented to the Board of Trustees as an information item.
