Registration for 2022-23 GCS Virtual Program

Greenville County students have the opportunity to enroll in the full-time Virtual Program for the 2022-23 school year. Registration opened at 8:00 AM on Monday, November 15 and will continue through 5:00 PM on Wednesday, December 1. To register, students must be enrolled in Greenville County Schools and parents must have a BackPack account. All current Virtual Program students will need to reapply for next year or the student will be reassigned to the student's homebased school. More about GCS Virtual Program.

GCS Seeks Applicants for Instructional Coach Pool

GCS is looking for master teachers who have a passion for coaching and mentoring fellow teachers to apply to the Instructional Coach (IC) Pool. The primary role of the IC is to support and improve instructional practices to meet the varied needs of all students. Individuals interested in becoming an IC must be in the IC Pool in order to be considered for an IC vacancy. Interested staff must have a master's degree and minimum of five years' teaching experience. Additional information can be found in this job description. Internal and external candidates should apply to Requisition #11744; the application window closes November 29.

Change in Assignment School Choice Lottery Window Opens November 15

Greenville County Schools' Change in Assignment (CIA) School Choice Lottery Window will be available from Monday, November 15 through Wednesday, December 1, 2021 where parents can submit a choice form for up to three schools for their child at their number one choice school. Choice forms are available at every school (except magnet schools) and must be completed and submitted at the number one choice school. This form is not available online. Order of receipt of CIA form at schools during the CIA Lottery Window does not affect selection.

Superintendent's Report
In honor of American Education Week Dr. Royster invited the Greenville County Schools Teacher of the Year, Anne Tromsness, to speak on his behalf. Ms. Tromsness shared her joy for teaching and helping students express themselves through drama. She expressed the way drama classrooms embrace history, writing, research and other academic pursuits in a way that engages imaginations and vision. A significant part of the return on arts education is manifest in students' lives as students and citizens.

Action Items

Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the Year ended June 30, 2021 - Approved motion from the Committee of the Whole to accept the FY 2021 draft Annual Comprehensive Financial Report as presented in order to meet the December 1, 2021 deadline, but if there are any findings, significant deficiencies, or material weaknesses in the ESSER single audit following receipt of the revised guidance, the audit must be resubmitted for consideration by the Board. If there are no findings, significant deficiencies, or material weaknesses identified based on the additional OMB guidance, this will serve as the final acceptance of the FY 2021 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

Revision of Board Policy KG: Use of School Facilities (A. Mosley, S. Dulin) -The Board voted 6-4 with one abstention to table this item, therefore no change was made to the policy.

Selection for Indefinite Delivery for Mechanical Engineer Design Services (Executive Session) - Approved motion from the Committee of the Whole to approve the highest-ranked five firms for Mechanical Engineer Design Services in an indefinite delivery contract format.

Physical Education Exemption (Executive Session) - Approved recommendation from the Administration to approve a physical education exemption for one student at Mauldin Middle School.
