News Change in Assignment School Choice Lottery Window Ends Friday, December 16 Greenville County Schools' Change in Assignment (CIA) School Choice Lottery window will be available through Friday, December 16, 2016, where parents can submit a choice form for up to three schools for their child at their number one choice school. Choice forms are available at every school (except magnet schools) and must be completed and submitted at the number one choice school. Since order of receipt of form does not impact assignment, parents will not be allowed to line up at schools. All parents/guardians interested in applying for a possible CIA school choice slot at a school other than their assigned school (by residence) should apply during the December 2016 Lottery window. ![]() Greenville Alternative Teacher Education (GATE) Program Greenville County Schools is seeking qualified middle and secondary math and science candidates for the 2017-18 GATE cohort. In partnership with Public Education Partners, GATE integrates content, best teaching practices and professional knowledge within a supportive, authentic school teaching experience. Information sessions will be held in early 2017. GATE Program Information Greenville Early College Welcomes Stakeholders ![]() Greenville Early College hosted a luncheon to present the accomplishments of its program that serves 139 students in grades 6 through 10 in a personalized learning environment that assists them toward becoming the first in their families to attend college. Guests included school board members, representatives from Greenville Technical College, the University Center, Furman University, the Community Foundation of Greenville, Public Education Partners, Communities in Schools, United Way, and other community groups involved in the development of the Early College. Adoption of Consent Calendar Appearance of Visitors Superintendent's Report Action Items IB Program Study Results - Approved motion from the Committee of the Whole to discontinue the IB Middle Years Program. Revision of Policy IFCD: School Volunteers - Approved motion from the Committee of the Whole to approve the revision of Policy IFCD: School Volunteers. The revised policy identifies two levels of volunteer interaction with students. Policy Revisions: Instructional Resources (Revision of Policies IFA: Instruction Material and IFBD: School Libraries and Deletion of Policies IFAA: Textbook Selection & Adoption, IFBC: Instructional Materials and Centers and IFBG: Computer Assisted Instruction) - Approved motion from the Committee of the Whole to approve the revision of Policies IFA and IFBD and the deletion of Policies IFAA, IFBC, and IFBG. The revisions and deletions are part of an ongoing review and update of District policies. Policy Revisions: Comprehensive Health and Wellness (Revision of Policy IDB: Wellness and Health Education and IDBA: Sexuality Education) - Approved motion from the Committee of the Whole to approve the revision of Policies IDB: Wellness and Health Education and IDBA: Sexuality Education. The revisions are part of an ongoing review and update of District policies. Termination of Legacy Charter School Charter Agreement - Approved recommendation from the Administration to approve the termination of Legacy's charter with Greenville County Schools, effective June 30, 2017, pending their acceptance to and funding by the State Charter District. Sale of Former Sue Cleveland Elementary (Executive Session) - Approved recommendation from the Administration to approve the sale of ±5.75 acres, including the former Sue Cleveland Elementary School, at 3 Church Street, Piedmont to St. Matthew's Baptist Church for $150,000. The building is ±59,521 square feet and sits on ±7.527 acres. The District will retain approximately 1.75 acres for a future sale. The original building was constructed in 1948. The former Sue Cleveland Elementary School was declared surplus by the Board of Trustees in June, 2005. Information Items Internal Auditing Services' Project Status Report - The report was presented as information. Committee / Liaison Reports - Mrs. Grayson reported that the Advocacy Committee was bringing two items for board approval: a Resolution honoring Grier Gower Mullins for her years of service to public education in her role as Executive Director of Public Education Partners, and a letter to the Education Oversight Committee Chairman sharing the Board of Trustees' input on the proposed accountability plan.
