Sponsored by the counselors and
PTA, "Bear Hugs" is a
school-wide character building
program that promotes
the leadership principles taught
in our Seven Habits
guidance lessons (see
below). One student from each
homeroom classroom who
exemplifies the habit of the
month and who goes "above and
beyond" to do the right thing
will be selected as "Student of
the Month". Bear Hug winners
have their picture displayed
outside their classroom and are
featured on the morning news and
in the school newsletter. They
also receive a treat and will be
recognized at Awards Day in May.
THE SEVEN HABITS OF LEADERS
1. Be proactive. (You are in
charge of yourself.)
2. Begin with the end in mind.
(Have a plan for success.)
3. Put first things first.
(Work first and then play.)
4. Think win/win. (Reach a
compromise so everyone can be a
winner.)
5. Seek first to understand and
then to be understood. (Listen
to others
before you say what’s on
your mind.)
6. Synergize. (Work together.)
7. Sharpen the saw.(Have a
balance of work and play.)
