Weekly Update 12.5

Weekly Update

Good Afternoon, League Academy! I hope you have all had a great weekend! We are heading into the holiday season and things are getting busy around here! Let’s share some good things.

  • Last Thursday we held our first CKH Parent Talks. We had approximately 30 parents who attended the sessions throughout the day. The sessions were very positive and informative. We will have more sessions like these during the spring and I hope that we will get more parents to attend.

  • Our Girls on the Run team participated in the Trailblazer  5K Saturday in Travelers Rest. The girls did a fantastic job and it was a beautiful day. Thanks, Mrs. Barrow and Mrs. Daniel for all of your hard work coaching the girls this fall.

  • We have a hard working SIC and PTA! Last week we had two very productive meetings! We are so lucky to have such involved parents and community members!

We have lots of things going on and in the works at League! I would like to announce that beginning in January, we will begin offering the League of Legends Extended Day Program for our students! The program will begin after the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, and will run through the remainder of the year. We will be getting detailed information out this week.

We also continue to work on making our dismissal as safe as possible for our students, staff members, and community. We have adopted the GCS  Carline Monitoring system, and our line is starting to move so much better. If you are picking your student up from school on the surrounding streets in the neighborhood, please start coming through the line. With the carline system, the line moves! We can get you in and out! Every student received a tag through their advisory teacher. Please ask your student about it.

Communication between school and parents is of the utmost importance to us. We have created a parent communication survey that we would like everyone to fill out. The link is below: It can be found on our website and also on Facebook and Twitter. Please take a moment to fill out this brief survey so we can serve you in the best manner possible.

Lastly, we have a busy week this week! Please join us on Monday and Thursday at League for our girls and boys basketball games. The girls play beginning at 5:30 and boys will follow. Admissions into all Greenville County Middle School athletic events is $3.00. On Tuesday, we will host our annual Evening of Dance. The show starts at 7:00 PM and admission is $3.00. The League Bands will also host their winter concert on Thursday beginning at 6:30. Please join us as we support our many talented students!

We have so many things to be thankful for at League, and this holiday season we will share them all in concerts, games, and classrooms. Thank you for all you do for our school family. Teri Marshall said, “The holiday season is the perfect time to reflect on our blessings and seek ways to make life better for those around us”.

Have a great week!
