End Year State Testing

Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades in South Carolina will take the SC READY assessments in April & May.  Please make sure your child is on time for testing each day. Doctors' appointments and other out-of-school functions should not be scheduled during testing hours. Resources such as brochures, sample score reports, Score Report User's Guide, translations, and alternate forms of these resources are available on the SCDE's Students and Parent Resources webpage.

Monday, April 28 = ELA Reading Section A
Tuesday, April 29= ELA  Reading Section B
Friday, May 2 = ELA Writing
Monday, May 5 = Science (4th grade only)

Kindergarten & 1st Grade Registration

Make sure GCS is ready for your child on the first day of school!

Children who will be five years old on or before September 1, 2025 must enroll in public or private kindergarten unless the parent or legal guardian signs a waiver.  Any child who will be six years old on or before September 1, 2025 must enroll in first grade.  (IMPORTANT: Students who are currently enrolled in a GCS 4K or 5K program do not need to register.)

BRMS Instrument Testing Night

BRMS Instrument Testing Night for any rising 6th grade student who has signed up for band or orchestra will take place on Thursday April 3 from 4-7 pm in the BRMS gym. This is a drop in event so families can stop by any time between 4 pm and 7 pm to try out all of the instruments.

Senior Walk - Class of 2025

Attention former Mountain View Elementary students graduating High School this year!  Please join us for the Senior Walk on Thursday, May 15 at 7:45 am.  We would like to celebrate you and your accomplishments!  Please email Paula Britzelmayr (pbritzelmayr@greenville.k12.sc.us) your name, photo (Senior photo and Elementary photo if you’d like) and Post-Graduation plans by May 1. We will add these to a slide show for May 15.  Don’t forget to wear or bring your cap & gown on May 15!


ARMES Music Program

ARMES (Arts Reaching Middle and Elementary Schools) is an exciting, free program for students who are gifted in the arts. If you love music, art, acting, dancing, or writing, this is your chance to explore your talents and have fun with other creative students!  Nominations for the 2025-2026 ARMES program will be open until March 31.  Rising 3rd through 8th grade students may be nominated by a teacher, parent, themselves, or others.  Auditions will take place from April 21 to May 2, 2025.
