K-12 Educators/Support Professionals
NEA Learning & Leadership Grants – Grants of up to $5,000 are available to K-12 educators and support professionals for participation in high-quality professional development opportunities. Grant amounts are $2,000 for individuals and $5,000 for groups of educators/support professionals engaged in collegial study. Preference will be given to proposals that incorporate STEM and/or global competence in their projects. Applicants must be current members of the NEA. Grades 3-9 Educators
Herb Garden Grants – Educators of grades 3-9 are eligible to apply for $200 grants to establish and indoor or outdoor herb garden. Funds may be used to purchase supplies, such as soil, plant trays, containers, tools, etc. Classrooms awarded grants will also receive three windowsill garden kits and education materials. K-12 schools
21st Century Community Learning Center Grants – The SC Department of Education has announced the 21st Century grants. Projects must provide a variety of non-school hours academic and social enrichment programs for a minimum of 10 hours per week for 30 weeks. Summer programming is optional. Matching funds are required, as funding will decrease in years 3 and 4 without a decrease in the scope of services. Partnership with community organization(s) is required. Schools with current 21st Century programs are ineligible. Projects must start in September. For more information, visit the state website. Deadline: April 20, 2018 Notification: July 2018

GCS Golf Tournament Scholarship Applications - Proceeds from Greenville County Schools’ 2017 Scholarship Golf Tournament will fund 2018-19 post-secondary scholarships for this year’s high school seniors attending GCS high schools that participated in this school year’s golf tournament. All GCS high schools participated. Half of the scholarships are designated for children of permanent full- or part-time district employees. Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1,500 each. The number of nominations from each school depends on the student enrollment. Applications must be completed and returned by Friday, March 9, 2018, to the student’s counselor. NBCTs – The Center for Educator Recruitment, Retention, and Advancement (CERRA) is supporting a cohort of Greenville National Board candidates and is looking for NBCTs to serve as readers/mentors. The cohort will meet at Travelers Rest High School from 9:00 – 12:00 on Saturday, March 24. Breakfast will be provided and CERRA will offer recertification hours for NBCTs who attend the meeting. Programs Available for Teachers - Clemson University has programs available for teachers who are interested in ESOL, Literacy, and Literacy Coaching. Click for ESOL Add On Certification Coursework and Masters in Education Literacy. Strands are available in Literacy Coaching, Secondary Literacy, and ESOL.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT TIPS AND REMINDERS
Energy Saving Tips - Turn off ceiling fixture lights and lamps anytime an area will be unoccupied for more than 5 minutes. Lamps may be used but only INSTEAD of ceiling fixtures and must not utilize incandescent bulbs.

Avoid stress at mealtime by planning a weekly menu and posting it in a location for everyone to see, like a chalkboard in the kitchen.
Have ingredients for the week ready. After you shop, cut vegetables and measure ingredients in advance for easier meals.
