Read Across SC Art Contest - The SCEA 3rd Annual Read Across South Carolina Art Contest is open to all students in SC public education, grades K-12.  More than 150 South Carolina K-12 students have shown their imagination & talent in our first two Read Across South Carolina Art Contests. The contest promotes literacy and art across SC schools, and brings recognition to individual students, their teachers and schools. Students are encouraged to use the theme “From the Mountains to the Sea, Read With Me” to inspire their artwork.

K-12 Educators

Honey Bee Grants – Grants of $1,500 are available to K-12 educators for implementation of honeybee hive educational program. Funds can be used for equipment and supplies, observation equipment, and equipment for a traditional beehive. Online Letter of Intent is first step. Successful applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal by November 15. For more information, click here.   Deadline: Letter of Intent: October 31, 2017; Full application: November 15.

State Farm Education Grants – K-12 educators have the opportunity to apply for grants of $5,000 or more for initiatives that support underserved individuals. Programs funded will help students obtain the skills and credentials needed to succeed in today’s workforce. Funds can also be used for teacher development and service learning projects. NEA Foundation Grants – Grants of $2,000 OR $5,000 are available to K-12 educators to purchase resource materials, supplies, equipment, or technology related to instructional projects that focus on critical thinking and problem solving skills. Open Enrollment for Insurance Coverage (through October 31, 2017) – Due to Affordable Care Act compliance, all eligible employees, including new hires and working retirees, must attend a meeting with a Ward Services counselor to document the offer of health insurance coverage. To prepare for your individual meeting, click HERE for the Open Enrollment Highlights document. Ward Services has also prepared a video overview. Equity in Education Conference - The Center for the Education and Equity of African American Students (CEEAAS) is hosting its 1st Annual Equity in Education Conference in Columbia on January 18, 2018.  Registration is now open. Greenville Family Partnership Red Ribbon 5K - Greenville Family Partnership is hosting its 1st Annual Red Ribbon 5K and are encouraging schools to get involved. The race will take place on Sunday, October 22 at 3 PM at Trailblazer Park in Travelers Rest.   Click here for ideas to incorporate the 5k into Red Ribbon Week.
