REMINDER: 2016 Employee of the Year Awards (Deadline to Submit Nominations is Wednesday, April 6) - We are seeking outstanding employees to be nominated for the 2016 Employee of the Year Awards sponsored by Greenville Federal Credit Union. Each Employee of the Year receives a crystal award and $500 and his/her school/location receives $500 to share the honor with staff. Click HERE for entry form, guidelines, and additional information. Note – Nomination forms must be signed by the employee’s supervisor. The seven nomination categories are: School Administrator, Assistant School Administrator, School Support Employee, Operations Employee, District Professional Employee, District Support Employee, and Emerging Teacher (two levels). 2016 Attendance Blitz - Congratulations to Sue Cleveland Elementary, Northwest Middle, and Blue Ridge High schools for winning the 2016 Attendance Blitz. They held special activities during the first semester and raised their student attendance rates. Winners were chosen from participating schools that had the highest attendance percentage increase when comparing their 90th day average daily attendance rates from 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years. Sue Cleveland Elementary posted an increase of 8.48%, Northwest Middle had an increase of 0.93%, and Blue Ridge High’s attendance increased 0.55%. Click HERE for more information. RETIRING EMPLOYEES

REMINDER: 2016 Retirement Dinner – The 2016 Retirement Dinner will be held at the TD Convention Center on Thursday, May 26, at 6:30 p.m. Please note requirements listed below for employees to be included in the dinner:

· Employees must meet retirement guidelines to be included in this year’s event.

· A Termination of Employment Form must be submitted by the employee’s supervisor to Human Resources by Thursday, March 24.

· A Retirement Banquet Information Sheet must be completed by the retiring employees who meet the guidelines and returned to Human Resources per the instructions on the form.

Employees who come off TERI or retire and continue to work for GCS will be recognized at the banquet in the year when they end their employment with the district unless they have already been invited to the dinner in a previous year. Retirement Dinner invitations will be mailed to retirees in early May. Audience: Retiring Employees. ALL EDUCATORS

Summer Opportunities (Listed Below) - Audience: All Educators. Contact:  Stephanie Meek, Instructional Technology, 355-3357.

Elementary Summer School Teachers - Certified Early Childhood or Elementary teachers are needed for Reading and Math summer camps. Multiple positions are available. Teachers will be paid a stipend of $30/hr.

· Mandatory training Dates are June 8 and 10

· Camp Dates are: June 13-16, June 20—23, June 27-30, July 11-14

Teachers will work from 7:45-2:45 and must be available to teach all four weeks. Interested applicants should contact Stephanie Meek at smeek@greenville.k12.sc.us or 355-3357. Teachers must submit a resume to Stephanie Meek and must have a principal recommendation. Principal needs to email the statement of recommendation to Stephanie Meek.

Summer Camp Administrators - Summer Camp Administrators are needed. The Reading and Math camps are for elementary school students. Please apply through the Human Resources page on the district website.

Fountas and Pinnell Benchmarking - Multiple teachers are needed for Reading Fountas and Pinnell benchmarking. A May training will be required. Benchmarkers will be needed for the weeks of June 13-16 and July 11-14. The stipend pays $30/hr.

Special Education Aides - Special Education Aides are needed for Reading and Math Summer camps. The stipend pay is $12/hr. The dates are:

· Mandatory Training Dates are June 8 and 10

· Camp Dates are June 13-16, June 20—23, June 27-30, July 11-14

Retirement & Insurance Benefit Options for Employees Planning to Retire in 2016 - Employees planning to retire have the opportunity to attend two, separate presentations: Understanding Retirement Benefit Payment Options, Thursday, April 14, 4:00 p.m., and Understanding Retirement Insurance Benefit Options, Thursday, April 21, 4:00 p.m. Registration is not required and both presentations will be held at the M.T. Anderson Support Center. If you would like to receive a personalized retirement benefits estimate, please e-mail benefits@greenville.k12.sc.us. In the subject line, write retirement benefits estimate and, in the body of the email, write your name, employee number, and expected date of retirement. Audience: All Employees. 2016 Summer Work Schedule - The 2016 Summer Work Schedule will begin Monday, June 6 and end Friday, August 5.
