P. Buckley Moss Foundation – Foundation offers grants for up to $1,000 for projects that integrate the arts into educational programs. Effective projects will use visual arts as a learning tool during the 2016-17 school year. The online application and a list of previously awarded projects are available here. Whole Kids School Garden Grant – The Whole Foods Foundation provides grants of $2,000 to K-12 schools for the development and maintenance of school-based gardens. PRE-K5 TEACHERS
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Grant – Pre-K5 teachers are eligible to apply for $2,000 professional development grants to expand their knowledge of mathematics instruction. Donald Samull Classroom Herb Garden Grant – The Herb Society of America is offering four window sill herb gardens and five $200 grants for outdoor herb gardens. Public Education Partners (PEP) - PEP is awarding grants up to $2,000 to support high school, STEM-related classroom projects. Funding includes materials, professional development, and/or technology required for the successful implementation of the project. Annual Safety/Ethics Training for All Employees – Employees are required to view assigned safety training videos including the District’s employee/social media ethics video. The entire course material should be viewed and applicable quizzes taken. Employees should access the courses by using the Google Chrome browser, clicking on the Employee Portal and clicking on Safety Training. After logging in, employees will see the required courses; be aware that all courses are scheduled for completion Friday, September 18. Your location’s designated Safety Administrator is responsible for assisting with access or viewing issues, monitoring progress, and notifying employees about incomplete courses. Employee Discount Program and Free Admission to Events (Benefits Available Throughout the Year; Photo ID Required) - GCS employees can use their school/district photo ID to receive discounts from local businesses through the Golden Apple Rewards Employee Discount Program and for free admittance to school-sponsored events. Effective 2014-15, printed employee passes are longer provided. Discounts with local businesses are listed in the Employee Discount booklet that is distributed in January for that calendar year’s discounts. The booklet is also posted in the Employee section of the GCS website and is online at www.goldenapplerewards.com. Participating businesses are also highlighted throughout the year in employee e-newsletters.
Employees may also attend school-sponsored events free of charge. School-sponsored events are defined as: regular season athletic games and matches, District athletic tournaments such as the Christmas Basketball Tournament, curriculum-related events open to the public such as band and chorus concerts, and Roper Mountain Science Center’s Second Saturdays and Starry Nights. (NOTE: Does not include athletic post-season play, non-curriculum related events such as pageants and events requiring advance ticket sales due to limited seating, and events held in schools that are not school sponsored.)
