WIN Testing | April 1, 2025
Preparing students who are career-ready is an important responsibility of Greenville County Schools and the State of South Carolina. We want to ensure that all students have the skills necessary to pursue future education or begin a career after high school.
This year, 11th-grade students in South Carolina will take the WIN Work Ready assessment. The SC Department of Education has defined 11th-grade students as students in their third year in high school after initial enrollment in 9th grade.
The WIN Work Ready assessment consists of four multiple-choice timed tests – Math, Reading, Data, and Soft Skills. These tests measure real-world skills that employers believe are critical to job success. Students may earn WIN’s Work Ready credential and a Soft Skills credential which are recognized by businesses and industries nationwide.

Attendance
It is critical that high school students arrive to school on time and are only dismissed early for essential personal matters so that they are not denied credit due to excessive absences in one or more of their class periods.
Parents can only excuse 5 absences for student illness per semester without a doctor's note.
Every high school course earns a student a Carnegie unit towards graduation (usually 4 per semester). In order to receive credit for a course, a student must earn a passing grade and have 5 or fewer unexcused absences.
Students must be present for at least half of the period (45-minutes) of a class period in order to be marked present for the class.
Tardy Policy
Students also will be held accountable for arriving to every class on time. Tardies to class will be accrued per class period and students will begin receiving consequences after a student’s 3rd tardy.
Dress Code and Student IDs:
Students should arrive at school within Carolina High Dress Code expectations and with Student ID worn visibly around their necks. If a student needs a replacement ID, one will be printed for them at the entrance for $5.00 or charged to their account. Students entering out of dress code will be supported to correct their attire to within dress code regulations or a parent will be called to bring a change of clothes. Adherence to the dress code expectations will begin Monday, August 19th and continue throughout the remainder of the year.
