Where in the World is Montague?
|
Our theme this year at Blythe is "Around the World in 180
days!" Montague the Bear will give clues each morning
from a French or Spanish country. Students will try to
guess which country Montague is visiting that week, and will
drop their answers in a special box in the Media Center.
A winner will be drawn each Friday.

Clues for the Week
|
Monday, August 24, 2009 -
This entire country is slightly
smaller than Nevada, and its
natural resources are petroleum,
bananas, shrimp, coffee, cocoa,
cut flowers, and fish. Every
year they ship over 4.5 million
tons of bananas out of their
country. The country may be
small, but there is a lot to
see. Tune in tomorrow to hear
more.
Tuesday, August
25, 2009 -
In this country the climate
varies depending on the
elevation, but you can
pick through
hand-woven wool sweaters at a
chilly indigenous market in
Otavalo; the next day you might
sweat all over your binoculars
while spying on howler monkeys
in the Amazon jungles of the
Oriente. Also,
animals that hop, wobble and
swim around the unique,
unforgettable Galapagos Islands
can be seen.

– In this country, 19 out of 20
citizens are Roman Catholic and
Spanish is the official
language. They use the same
money we use in America, and
the US $1
‘Sacagawea’ coin is widely used.
Also, out of every 100 people,
more than 92 can read and write.
Thursday, August 27, 2009
– This is where the Cotopaxi
Volcano is located. It is in
the Andes and is the highest
active volcano in world. There
are only two seasons in this
country the
rainy season and the dry season.
Friday, August 28, 2009
– This country is in Western South
America between Colombia and
Peru, and borders the Pacific
Ocean at the Equator. It is
named after the word Equator and
the capitol is Quito.
