Where in the World is Montague? |
Our theme this year at Blythe
is "Around the World in 180 days!" Montague the Bear
will give clues each morning from a French or Spanish
country. Students will try to guess which country
Montague is visiting that week, and will drop their answers
in a special box in the Media Center. A winner will be
drawn each Friday.

-
Montague loves this country
because it produces 220,000 tons
of chocolate every year. The
people are quite picky with
their cocoa powder, and they
make sure that it's of the
finest quality. Every procedure
is done by hand because they
strongly believe that it can
bring out the finest chocolate.
Now, they offer a wide range of
chocolate products loved by many
people from all over the world.
Tuesday,
November 3, 2009 -
Even though this country is only the
size of Maryland, it has three
official languages: Dutch,
French, and German. Maybe
Montague can learn all three!

-
Montague will have a full belly
in this country because it
claims to be the original maker
of Frites (French fries). Frites
can be found all over the
country at outdoor vendors
called frietkots. There are more
than 4000 frietkots throughout
the country and many carry a
selection of over 50 dipping
sauces. They are traditionally
served in a paper cone and
topped with mayonnaise.
Thursday,
November 5, 2009 - The beloved blue cartoon creatures
known as “Smurfs” got their
start as a comic strip in this
country. The Smurfs were created
by the cartoonist Peyo in 1958.
Will Montague see a Smurf while
he is here?
Friday, November 6, 2009 -
This country is known for its
waffles! They're served warm by
street vendors, dusted with
powdered sugar, and sometimes
topped with whipped cream or
chocolate spread. What type of
waffle will Montague choose?
