Greenville County Schools is on eLearning Monday, February 2, and Tuesday, February 3. Schools and office buildings will be closed, and all activities, including athletic events and field trips, are canceled. This decision was made based on current snow and ice, forecasted freezing temperatures, which may result in continued unsafe road conditions, and the significant amount of work needed to clear campus entries and driveways once it’s safe for crews to do so. A decision about Wednesday will be made Tuesday afternoon.

Counselors will send home a Final Course Selection form- which includes the teacher recommendations for their academic classes on or before March 11, 2026. Corrections and/or changes can be made on that form. The final forms are due back with parent signatures on or before March 23, 2026.

If your student would like to take a Virtual High School Credit class during related arts the following google form needs to be completed to be considered for the class (even if you chose it as an alternate class). This form must be completed by March 23, 2026. This form will be open beginning February 2, 2026.

Rising 9th Grade Student Course Selection Process for 2026-2027 (current 8th grade students)
Students will receive a course form from their zoned high school with all of the courses they can select from Jan. 28th-30th. If a student moves or gets special assignment to another high school we can make changes through the end of the year. A link to course descriptions will be posted on each high school website. Forms are due back Feb, 6, 2026. Counselors will send home a Final Course Selection form- which includes the teacher recommendations for their academic classes- on or before March 11, 2026. Corrections and/or changes can be made on that form. The final forms are due back with parent signatures, and any override forms, on or before March 23, 2026. Override forms are for academic classes only and can be printed from the link below.

2026 Reading All-Stars Challenge
Students are challenged to read a total of 500 pages between January 12th and February 13th. Students that complete the challenge will be given a ticket voucher to the celebration game and a pre-game meet the Drive player event. Families can choose between two games; Tuesday, April 14 @ 6:45 PM and Wednesday, April 15th @ 6:45 PM.

The Sexual Health and Responsibility Education Unit will be taught Tuesdays and Wednesdays in February (2/10-11, 2/17-18, & 2/24-25) by the PE department to students currently enrolled in PE. A general overview and outline of the district’s age appropriate, abstinence-based sexual health & responsibility education curriculum can be viewed on the district website under the Students & Parents Heading then scrolling to the Comprehensive Health & Physical Education link. Complete details including the slide presentation and videos can be previewed at the school anytime during the school day if you would like to view it. If you do not want your child to participate in the sexual health & responsibility unit or a specific portion of the unit, you must bring the signed exemption form to the front office in person. By School Board Policy and SC Comprehensive Health Education Law, students who exempt sexual health & responsibility education will be required to complete other health-related self-study lessons.

ACCESS Testing for English Language Learners will be administered to small groups of students from January 21 through February 6, 2026. This is an English proficiency test. There are four parts to the ACCESS test: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. Each test will be given on a different day. You can help your student do their best by ensuring that they get plenty of rest and are prepared on their test dates. They will need their charged chromebook for each test.
